Project: Simple shopping cart system

Summary: The Apexcone web site averages sales of several thousand dollars per week. An email purchasing system quickly proved unable to efficiently cope with the high volume of orders and information requests. The owner did not wish to spend money on an expensive shopping cart system and the current web host did not offer any e-commerce services. The solution was to use PayPal's inexpensive shopping cart system. A unique item number and description was determined for each of the products, to help speed shipping and ease record keeping duties. The products were grouped based on functionality and added into one of several shopping cart pages. Customized "Add to Cart" and "View Cart" buttons were utilized. Several shopping cart updates have been made to accommodate changes and additions in the
product lineup.
